The room was great value for money! We didn't eat in the restaurant on the night of our stay however the evening bar was lovely with a great variety of drinks, warm atmosphere and friendly staff. It was in a great location and not too far from the city centre. There was lots of options at breakfast but had to go for the full Northumberland breakfast which didn't disappoint. I would recommend this to anyone and will definitely make another visit.

New owners (very new owners in fact) are doing an excellent job of breathing new life into this wonderfully located hotel. The staff are very welcoming and want to do as much as possible to make your stay as pleasant as they can. The location, four or five miles south of Berwick is easy to access and wonderful for getting to the extremely beautiful Northumbria and Scottish border locations. Stay here rather than on the nearby Holy Island and you will save a fortune. Room 2 is a twin room, both clean & comfortable, with a hanging space rather than a wardrobe and a small but perfectly adequate en-suite bathroom. The cooked breakfast (included in the price) was individually prepared not a buffet. The food was delicious. As the new owners settle in it promises to be a great place to stay & eat. Very quiet - Noise levels from the main road and downstairs bar area were virtually non-existent.

The staff, the room, the food, the breakfast - you cannot fault this hotel for the excellence in these areas. We ate in the restaurant on the first night and the quality and taste of the food was amazing. Breakfast was one of the best breakfasts we have had in the last 4 weeks touring around the UK. Richard on breakfast service made sure the layout and provisions at breakfast were spot on. The food at breakfast was a very high standard - we will certainly consider returning
