Well, we expected this hotel to be good ! It wasn't good... it was really really great. From the moment we arrived, we felt I to was going to be special and we were right.  Our host, Christina, brought us to our room (a Deluxe Queen Suite) and we loved it straight away. It had everything and more than we expected. It overlooked the Haidplaz so we had a prime view on all the activity going on below... but the windows were so good, we could shut out the noise if and when we wanted.  The large bed was superbly comfortable. The room was also large so we had lots of space. The bathroom was a perfect size and everything was spotlessly clean. The cooking area was well equipped and very functional.  Breakfast was wonderful... A great choice of food, in lovely surroundings... a super way to start the day. Christina was so welcoming & lovely and she gave us great background to the hotel's history, the oldest part of which dates back to 1230, and its links to famous people through the ages. The other staff that we met were very pleasant & smiley and so helpful.  The location of the hotel is perfect and all the sights are within easy walking distance... as is the train station. There is also two free bus routes (A & B) that pass by the hotel to take you around the city, if you want them.  The tourist office has a free app that gives you a marvelous walking tour of the city. Regensburg is a special gem - very beautiful - not too big and not too small. Our top picks are the Bavarian Historical Museum, closely followed by the Thurn und Taxis Palace.. both are simply brilliant but in very different ways. There are tons of bars and restaurants within easy reach of the hotel. We would highly recommend a stay in Hotel Goldnes Kreus.

I am astounded at Jurgan the boss and Rita the breakfast assistant. They're so very kind and made the stay so much fun. They gave me the big suite in the 11th century place and the breakfast is super de duper healthy Acai bowls with fresh fruit. The bar Chin chin is rocking at night elegant and tasteful lovely truly.

Our stay was more than perfect! The hotel is located on the outskirts of the city, but it’s very cozy and warm. The reception staff was extremely kind and helpful. We had a parking spot in the garage, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. The area is quiet and surrounded by greenery — a perfect place to relax. It’s also dog-friendly, and we even had two bowls for food and water waiting in the room for our pet, which was such a nice touch 🐶💛. We drove to the city center with our own car. I would definitely come back to Regensburg just to stay here again!

Breakfast was out of this world. Looked forward to it every evening. Hosts were also lovely.
