The hotel features a hot tub and a tour desk. Nice clean and comfortable. room was large and airy. The restaurant was good. Plenty of shops to look round.

Best part was sitting on the back deck enjoying the extraordinary view of the lake after a day out and having a cold refreshment. Will definitely stay at the Retreat when next in Taupo.

Our room was simple but spaciuos, clean and tidy with a big bathroom and a very comfortable bed. There is a small kitchen equipped all what is needed, the breakfast was very nice! even if we stayed for one night only, we felt like home! a plus is the hot pool iacuzzi in the garden, fantastic! the surrounding garden is so lovely and the cat is adorable! The BnB is 10 minutes by car from Matamata town and around 15 minutes from Hobbitton movie set.

The extensive garden was impressive and we enjoyed walking around and exploring it, and the bonus was feeding the alpacas! The hostess was very welcoming and informative. We would very happily go back and spend more time (this time it was a one night transit stop over). Our congratulations to the host and hostess for the work they have done, as it really is very impressive and this property has a lot of character.
