The hotel's onsens are very cool, in the morning you can try rice porridge cooked with thermal water. The hotel has its own small convenience store for hikers. After a long day of hiking (25 km), sitting in the onsen there is an indescribable pleasure!

Fantastic meals shared in good company.

The ryokan features rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. It was such an amazing experience. Thank you to the monk staff who were so kind and patient and guided us through meditation custom and practices. Our room included shojin ryori (buddhist vegetarian cuisine) breakfast and dinner which was very balanced and filling. I feel a sense of gratitude and peace coming back to Tokyo. I would like to go every year if I can.

The guesthouse itself is a beautifully preserved traditional Japanese home, full of charm and quiet energy. The village, with only around 200 people, offers an authentic glimpse into life near Kōyasan—deeply connected to nature, community, and spirituality. I was incredibly lucky to have the entire house to myself, and even more so to receive a private tour of Kōyasan from the hosts, which was personal and full of insight. Although the weather was unexpectedly cold for this time of year, the hosts did their best to keep the space warm, offering extra blankets and heaters. Just be aware that heaters typically can’t be left on overnight, so it can get chilly. Even with that, I would absolutely rate the stay as exceptional. The home-cooked breakfasts and dinners were a highlight—delicious, nourishing, and made with so much care. I also spent a peaceful day resting, reading, writing, and enjoying the slow rhythm of the village. It was a deeply grounding and meaningful experience. If you’re looking for something quiet, real, and full of heart, this is the place. I left feeling incredibly grateful.

The property is allergy-free and is situated 1.3 km from Tanabe Ogigahama Beach. Very good location! Close to the station as well as multiple restaurants. The owner was also very kind and accommodating. I left something in the bathroom after checkout and one of their staff was so kind and came all the way to the station to look for me. Absolutely recommend this place!
