The lady who runs the Onsen is a delight. She speaks great english and she is very helpful. They all make you feel very welcoming. The place is neat, everything and everywhere is super clean. You can see that they truly embody the Japanese spirit of putting the heart into everything they do. I'd totally recommend this place to anyone who wants a true Onsen experience.

More than the place , the host and his wife were extremely kind . We talked a lot and we had a good time , they picked us at the station, they took us to the monkey park and they took us back to the station. So far the best host i have met

Guests at Tousen Aburaya can dream away in an outdoor public or private bath, and enjoy the sauna or a relaxing massage. The hotel offers karaoke facilities. Worth every cent I paid for, for the junior suite. Service impeccable from arrival to departure where owner lady saw us out. The view of the river out front and mountains backdrop is awesome. Wifi is great, and room very comfortable. We still miss our own private little onsen tub. Private dinner experience excellent, though you might want to order more food (from additional a la carte menu) if you tend to eat a lot. Sweet old owner lady went around briefly greeting all the guests. Lounge (access came with room) very neat and cool, with wine & charcuterie served 5-7p. I could go on and on, but this is by far the best traditional-style stay my entire Japan trip, next to the new Waldorf Osaka modern-style stay I had. It's everything I dreamed a ryokan experience would be & more. Definitely ticked off my bucket list item.

Some staff spoke English and went out of their way to make the experience memorable. The onsen is natural hot springs with nice sulfur smell. Loved every second of this place. Would happily return.

Guests can use the hot tub and the open-air bath, or enjoy quiet street views. Omakase dinners and breakfast were absolutely delicious and exceeded our expectations. Location was very close to snow monkey park. Private onsen was a luxurious experience for us in the property itself.

Spacious rooms feature wood interior, an en suite bathroom and air conditioning/heating. Guests can enjoy the view of Okushiga Kogen from the comfort of their own rooms. All rooms are equipped with an electric kettle, free toiletries and a TV. I never experienced such VIP service otherwise in the world. Whole reception teams demonstrated what extraordinary service should be. I arrived late by bus and was welcomed by one receptionist in bus stop. so I did not need to carry my luggage in the snowing road. They even opened the ski rental shop for me after working hour. The next morning, I missed public shuttle bus and they offered to use hotel shuttle bus to drive me over to ski lift in Yakebitaiyama without reservation in advance. I felt that I was living with a lot of friends instead of living in hotel. I was too tired to try the bar at night, and I would like to try it next time. Swimming pool was good with quite warm water. Hot bathing place with best view. Sun rising over snow mountain top. Breakfast was very good with many variations. The dinner I ordered was pork hotpot, and personally I think the starter tasted better and pork meat is okay. I will try something else next time. All in all, the service and room condition are all top.

Featuring family rooms, this property also provides guests with a children's playground. I really enjoyed staying at Villa Alpen! This ski in ski out hotel is quiet old but the atmosphere there is so peaceful. Onsen works 24 hours! It is a great bonus. The continental breakfast and Japanese style dinner served. All good! The staff is very friendly. The ski resort is consisted of multiple small resorts and they all interconnected. The owners accommodated all my needs and were very helpful and kind! I will be back for sure!
