We were happy to have stayed here during the Spring Festival. Our room was a Japanese style room with tatami flooring. The guest room was decent in size and comfortable. The oriental style dual roller shade in the room was a nice feature. The staff were attentive and friendly. It would be more than perfect if slippers could be provided in the vestibule and toilet area of the room.

Really loved the stay at Private House Takayama – it felt like a home away from home. The place was very clean and had a very well-equipped kitchen which made our stay particularly enjoyable as we were able to make our own meals. (There is also a washing machine and dryer). The location is very convenient with sights, food options and supermarkets within walking distance. The hosts were highly responsive and provided very clear and useful information to ensure a smooth stay, including guidance on parking. We look forward to staying here again on our next visit to Takayama.

The 4-star ryokan features river views and is 47 km from Hida Minzoku Mura Folk Village. The ryokan offers rooms with air conditioning, free private parking and free WiFi. This was our second stay here and if I could give it a score of 15 out of 10 I would as 10 out of 10 is not even close to how magnificent the experience at this amazing Ryokan is. The Matsufuru family work so hard together as a team to provide an unforgettable experience. Their warmth and generosity are rare gifts in today’s world and remind you to stop and reflect on the good things in life. The food as always was first class with so much care and attention taken to tell a culinary story of the incredible region from which it was acquired from. Every inch of the Ryokan has been decorated with style and class.We truly are blessed to have found this piece of paradise and tranquility. To Takuya-san, the most incredible man we have ever met and his magnificent family, we will return again one day to our favourite place in Japan. We can never truly thank you enough for this experience.

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. The property offers free WiFi access in rooms and in public areas including the shared TV lounge and the terrace. We loved our time at Auberge Hidanomori. The decor is beautiful and in a lovely location in the outskirts of Takayama. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff who gave us recommendations for some local walks and provided a free shuttle to/from town. We would definitely recommend booking in for dinner - the food was incredible and the best that we had during our trip to Japan. We hope that we will be back again some day - thank you!

Thank you. The host took good care of everything and offer himself to take us to the train station.
