The bath is amazing - like you have an Onsen. The shared lounge is stunning and cosy, the rooms are lovely and they are just great humans who are easy to connect with. Not to mention they live in an incredibly beautiful part of the world on the Nakasendo. Photos of the accommodation don’t do it justice.

The room was clean, spacious, fully equipped and in full japanese style. We highly recommend staying here. Plus, the staff was extremely helpful and kind!

Reopened after renovation in 2022, Auberge Hidanomori is situated in quiet hills, a 10-minute shuttle ride from JR Takayama Station. The feeling of total peace and serenity was indescribable. Also, the fact that there was no television in the room, lets you truly enjoy the nature that surrounds you.
