The outdoor pool is beautiful . Perfect hot temperature in winter with beautiful views of mountains.

My wife, I, and our baby son stayed there for 3 nights. We had a very good time there with our host being superb, very friendly, and very helpful. She even gave us a ride to the train station and helped us in solving an issue at the train station. The breakfast was very good, we had two very comfortable big beds and enough space in our room and in the living room to let our kid crawl. We only can recommend to stay there.

From the moment we arrived at Yufuin station, our stay at Gekkoju was an absolute dream. This is, without a doubt, the most luxurious resort-style hotel I have ever experienced in Japan. ​Our experience began with the incredible staff member, Divas, who was waiting for us at the station to whisk us away. Divas is truly amazing and deserves a raise! Arriving at the property, we were mesmerized—it is truly beautiful. Divas then took the time to professionally and kindly explain every single room amenity, the schedule, and all available services in our suite. ​The luxury continued with spa staff members meeting us for an in-suite treatment, which was also flawless. Our suite was already welcoming with a record player on and an insane array of luxurious amenities. Don't even get me started on the snacks and minibar—I instantly wanted to hoard everything! ​The dinner was an experience I almost want to keep secret! The modern delicacy, utilizing fresh local ingredients, was catered perfectly to our age group. It was easily the best Kaiseki meal I have ever had. Again, Divas professionally prepared and explained every single part of the dish. Did I mention the thoughtful gift of our own name-engraved chopsticks? Breakfast the next morning was equally flawless. ​Divas went above and beyond, providing seamless transportation, picking us up and dropping us off everywhere we went. Breakfast is perfect, and the landlady treat us very kindly, I forgot to take my wine and cake, and she already packed those for me and waited for me. It was really a nice experience staying here, and she got good taste on the furniture and all the decorations, all these details remained such wonderful memories for me and my partner. I’ll stay longer if I visit Yufuin again!

Lovely ryokan about a 10 minute walk from the JR Yufuin station. Large comfortable tatami rooms with a view of Mt Yufu. Amazing public onsen (outdoor-indoor) adorned with rocks and a private onsen for families and couples - no reservation needed. Included breakfast. Nice proprietors.

Everything 😄 really enjoyed onsen both indoor and outdoor. Nice view on the second floor backyard.
