The host, Nita san, is super friendly and kind. She treated me almost like a grandchild of hers and provided the best tips and reminders for travelling around. The breakfast is very delicious. Bathroom is clean, spacious and homey. I got to enjoy the private onsen all by myself. All the decorations in the house is heart warming and lovely! I had a wonderful stay and even made friends with other guests. Highly recommend the place!

From the moment we arrived at Yufuin station, our stay at Gekkoju was an absolute dream. This is, without a doubt, the most luxurious resort-style hotel I have ever experienced in Japan. ​Our experience began with the incredible staff member, Divas, who was waiting for us at the station to whisk us away. Divas is truly amazing and deserves a raise! Arriving at the property, we were mesmerized—it is truly beautiful. Divas then took the time to professionally and kindly explain every single room amenity, the schedule, and all available services in our suite. ​The luxury continued with spa staff members meeting us for an in-suite treatment, which was also flawless. Our suite was already welcoming with a record player on and an insane array of luxurious amenities. Don't even get me started on the snacks and minibar—I instantly wanted to hoard everything! ​The dinner was an experience I almost want to keep secret! The modern delicacy, utilizing fresh local ingredients, was catered perfectly to our age group. It was easily the best Kaiseki meal I have ever had. Again, Divas professionally prepared and explained every single part of the dish. Did I mention the thoughtful gift of our own name-engraved chopsticks? Breakfast the next morning was equally flawless. ​Divas went above and beyond, providing seamless transportation, picking us up and dropping us off everywhere we went. From the receptionist to the staff preparing the breakfast we found the staff professional and friendly. Guests can use a private onsen (they have three separate cabins). The room was spotless.

The villa is very big with proper hot springs facilities. All the amenities are provided nicely. My family and friends all enjoyed the property very well. We obviously love this villa and would definitely recommend it.

The host was very gracious and met me for a late check in. She gave me a tour of the house and facilities and gave me some personal recommendations for what I could get for dinner in town at that time of night. Her English was perfectly understandable. The Japanese style bedroom I stayed in was very clean and spacious. The house included all amenities you could possibly need. The two onsens were a really nice touch - perfect for relaxing in at the end of the day. The cards hanging on the wall from all the previous guests was a good little quirk.
