We booked Ibis but upgraded for a small fee to Mercure which is in the same building. Good room (me and two boys 9 and 10 years old), great breakfast buffet, fantastic roof top pool and a gym even one floor higher next to the pool. No pool bar but 100m away is Siam@Siam to enjoy a sip overviewing Bangkok.

The room was clean and nice. Breakfast was excellent and varied, with fresh ingredients. The location of the hotel is very good, a 10-minute walk to the metro. There is also a transfer every half hour to the subway. The location is quiet, there are excellent Japanese restaurants and Thai massages nearby. Opposite the hotel, there is a 7-Eleven grocery store. Downstairs in the lobby bar, you can have a drink, coffee, or an ice cream sundae. If you miss breakfast, they will prepare a food package for you on the way. Very helpful and nice staff.
