Nestled in the Overberg biosphere which forms part of the Cape Floral Kingdom, one of only six World Heritage Sites, Hidden Stream Cottage is newly renovated with breathtaking views of the mountains, and a 300m walk to the beach.
Only an hour's drive from Cape Town, Betty's Bay is a picturesque seaside village situated along the most scenic Clarence Drive Route (R44) between Gordon's Bay and Kleinmond. It forms part of the Whale Coast Route, which means seasonally you can view Southern Right Whales along the shoreline.
We love giving visitors a glimpse of this magical part of the world.
A fifteen-minute walk from the cottage, an African Penguin Breeding colony can be visited at Stoney Point Nature Reserve, where a variety of bird species can also be viewed.
The cottage is located 3,8km from the beautiful Harold Porter botanical garden, which is situated in the centre of the coastal fynbos where the flora is at its richest. It encompasses mountain slopes with wind-clipped heathlands, deep gorges with relict forests, flats and marshes with restios, sedges and bulbs, as well as dunes adjacent to the beach with specialised salt-adapted plants. The Garden is renowned for its waterfalls and amber pools. It is also one of the most scenic Parkrun sites, where visitors can join this free, fun, and friendly 5km community event each Saturday at 08h00.
A ten-minute drive will bring you to the Cape Hangklip Trail in Pringle Bay which leads up a distinctive hill with fantastic views from the top over beaches and mountains (incl Table Mountain, weather permitting), after which you can enjoy a delicious meal at one of the local eateries and find unique gifts and memorabilia.
This part of the coast is protected from Cape Town city lights, which means you can enjoy spectacular night skies.
