“The room was perfect, a comfortable bed, beautiful surroundings.
Waking up to the sound of birds and the ducks was precious.
This is a little gem in White River.
Marti and Johan made us feel at home, and they were very helpful when we had car...”
The hosts are a well-traveled couple who recently settled in White River after a stint on their yacht. They bought Chocolate Orchid and have been refurbishing and upgrading the rooms and the lovely garden.
Marti is a qualified Kundalini yoga instructor, with an interest in sound therapy. Both have lived in the Lowveld for many years, and know their way about. They look forward to welcoming visitors.
周边信息
The Lowveld offers visitors a very wide range of experiences. From the vistas of the escarpment to the immediacy of open-vehicle game drives. There is a great deal to do and much to see.
Many artists have made the Lowveld their home. Visitors can arrange to see the work of Anton Bosch, or visit ‘Die Randjie’ where Esias Bosch’s daughter Ezra has her studio. There are the Eloffs and the Voigts, as well as many others. A good place to start getting acquainted with local artists is at the White River Gallery at Casterbridge.
In keeping with its history, Lowveld locals offer hospitality, quality, and quirkiness in equal measure. From Carl and Megan’s ‘64 on Coolmore’ restaurant which is 150m from our door, to the Plantsman down the road, to Oliver’s for exceptional spa treatments and food. There is enough to do to satisfy the most restless.
You can cycle to the forests from our gate (quite a climb) or take a short drive to Klipkopjes for a walk along the water’s edge. There is even sailing at Da Gama, with its very temperamental breezes.
