Immerse yourself in the culture of Tucson at the Adobe Rose Inn, a 1930’s original adobe brick B&B in a national historic district. Walk to UA and to the streetcar which will transport you to the downtown area to explore restaurants, museums, music, clubs and what makes Tucson unique. Introduce your palate to the Southwest at breakfast where you will enjoy local foods lovingly made from local recipes. The property consists of the main house which started in 1933 as a two bedroom bungalow on the outskirts of Tucson, at the corner of North Olsen Avenue and Second Street. We have been told that the adobe bricks were made from mud from Second Street which was a dirt road in the ‘30’s. We like to tell guests that they are not only staying on Second Street, but they are also staying in Second Street. In 1938, a casita was added to the property. Some neighbors tell us it was a garage. Others say it housed a family. In the mid-1980’s, another house was added to the large lot on which the Inn sits. Another room was added to the main house and the driveway became a large, relaxing pool. The property became a B&B sometime in the mid-1990’s.

While 16 architectural styles are represented, the majority of homes in the Sam Hughes Historic District are constructed in the Spanish eclectic style. Designated as an historic district in 1994, Sam Hughes evolved over a period of 35 years, according to documentation nominating the neighborhood as an historic district. Half of the historic homes were built during a construction boom lasting from 1923 until 1932. There is nothing you need that you can't walk or bike to from the Sam Hughes Neighborhood. This includes the Loft Cinema, an independent movie theater; Rincon Market and deli; and Himmel Park, which is a 24 acre urban park which is home to a grass amphitheater, two playgrounds, a swimming pool, eight lighted tennis courts, and a multipurpose grass playing field area large enough to accommodate four full-size soccer fields along with Himmel Park Library. There are many superb restaurants and cool businesses in the neighborhood, including three art stores - Lion's Gate Antiques, Arte de la Vida and Morning Star Traders and Antiques.
