Welcome to our dream come true! Back in 2015, during a weekend getaway, we found an old mansion in ruins in Porto's Historic City Center and we fell in love. As we strolled by, its enigmatic aura and fantastic location captured our imagination. Little did we know that this weekend trip would change our lives. We embarked on a challenging journey to find the means to make our dream a reality. After Countless sleepless nights and knocking on many doors we could finally start renovation, what we thought would take a couple of months turned into years. We were lucky to meet a talented young architect named Ren Ito, who shared our enthusiasm for the project. With his passion for architecture and a dedicated team, we were able to transform the old ruins into something truly spectacular, restoring the original beauty and charm of the old Merchant's House. Finally, in 2022 we proudly opened the doors of Casa Kala to the world and welcomed our first guests. We are thrilled to welcome you and share our love for Porto. BEM-VINDOS!

Nestled among cobblestone streets and magnificent bridges, the city of Porto has its roots on the ancient Roman City of Portus Cale, which was established as an important commercial port next to the Douro River. The City's name evolved from Portus Cale into Portugale, a legacy that lives on in the country's name. Historians suggest that this name may derive from the Greek word Καλλις Kallis, meaning beautiful. Casa Kala is centrally located and very close to main Porto attractions for example Rua Santa Catarina is only 200m away. You will reach Capela Das Almas in just a few steps and Mercado Bolhao in a mere 7 minute walk.
