I am Margarida. I am passionate about all that relates to handicrafts, decoration and cooking. I am a Biomedical Engineer but making Casa do Romezal a place to share as an agritourism guesthouse has given me the happiness of a dream come true. I moved back home after living abroad a while to Casa do Romezal, to begin this project together with my brother Luis, who is responsible for our production of wines and ports, and make it grow and reach more and more people. This house is definitely a family business.
Our father, the previous owner of this property, passes away in 2008, when we had just started the reconstruction of our ruined houses. He managed to see a bit of what it would become, though... This project was his project and that is our motivation.
We love to travel! We love our plants and take good care of them.
Since most of our time is spent at Casa do Romezal, our interests and activities have become related to the people we meet and so we really like having conversations with our guests, share interests and addresses.
住宿信息
Casa do Romezal's first records date back to 1604. It has been in our family since then, passing through generations, until it came to our hands, in ruins. Since 2006, we rebuilt the interiors using modern furniture and also some old restored furniture adapting the house to a romantic style. Our houses are surrounded by some of our 30 hectars of vineyards which give us very aromatic wines and ports. You can walk through the vineyards, go up the hill for amazing views and endless sunsets. We also produce our own olive oil and jams from our fruit trees, as well as our juices come from our orange and lemon trees. There is plenty to do at Casa do Romezal. In the winter, the fireplace is on and you can simply disconnect and enjoy the peace of our location. In the summer, the vibrant colors and smells of our garden, our pools and the porches facing the sunset guarantee long and delightful days. We offer activities onsite, such as our basket to go for a picnic or doing a wine tasting with Luis, on our tasting room, where you can try our Gueda wines. We will also tell you which other wineries are the best to visit, the most beautiful viewpoints and walking trails, where you can find cascades and have fun on activities on the river.
周边信息
We are located very close to a village called Vilarinho dos Freires. It is a funny and cute town. There is a church, sometimes there is fireworks and since we are in the countryside and there are mostly vineyards surrounding us, the sky is very dark so we can see falling stars almost everyday in the summer.
We are less than 5 kms apart from Peso da Régua. There, you can visit the Douro Museum, have a walk and buy some typical food like smoked hams, cheese and caramel candies. From Peso da Régua, you can catch a boat, a train or the N222 by car and go to Pinhão. This is the most beautiful road in the world. During this trip, if you are doing it by car, you can stop near the Távora and Têdo rivers and enjoy the views. The most famous wineries are also located on this road. Both Régua (the short version everybody uses) and Pinhão, offer great places to eat and do water sports.
Vila Real is only 15 kms away from us. There you can buy typical pottery and visit Casa de Mateus.
Miradouro de São Leonardo de Galafura, the viewpoint that inspired several portuguese writers, is located less than 10 kms away from us.
Also visit Lamego, Parque Natural do Alvão and Foz Côa.
