Walnut on Russell was established in 2024, on the site previously home to Wanaka Physio, a practice run by one of the property owners who is renowned in the international snow sports community as one of New Zealand’s top physiotherapists. The owners also operate the Mountain View Backpackers, located right next door, which is managed by Hayley, a long-time resident of Wanaka. Hayley brings a wealth of experience from her extensive travels, having worked in a variety of accommodation settings, including five-star hotels in Canada, chalets in France, and numerous hotels across Wanaka. Each cabin features a lavish king-sized bed in a separate bedroom, a rejuvenating rain shower in the bathroom, and convenient laundry facilities.
