Entering the Lodge, the open plan lounge with french doors onto viewing deck, is below the mezzanine floor accessed by a hand crafted spiral stair. Sleeping area for six, one double, one queen, both screened, with lounge suite and two king singles. Through a narrow doorway is a separate queen, then children's lounge with toys and acitivities.
The large master bedroom has double wardrobe, ensuite with shower and views of Mt Ruapehu and Mangawhero River.
We have been dairy farmers and saw the opportunity to buy this amazing spacious and warm log house about 12 years ago and so have opted to rent to holiday guests full time. We have three adult sons living away from home. We have a fold of 9 scottish highland cows and calves, 18 ducks, one dogand one cat, and enjoy seeing guests arrive with their dogs. With seven acres of hillside, there is plenty of room and privacy for all concerned. We are both keen gardeners and have enjoyed establishing easy care gardens and edible berries at the lodge for guests to enjoy.
Raetihi was originally a timber town, but has suffered an economic downturn, yet still retains it's historical heritage and has a vibrant community. There are two cafes, two fish and chip shops, one with DVD hire, petrol station, medical centre, supermarket, farming supplies, information centre, opportunity shops, art gallery, library with council services, and veterinary centre.
