Pirita cottage is a self-contained two-storey French-style cottage on a boutique vineyard in Upper Moutere with a beautiful 50m2 saltwater pool for guest use. The stand-alone straw bale 90 sqm cottage is tastefully renovated in rimu panelling and macrocarpa. It has a full kitchen with a quality oven, a lounge and dining area on one floor opening through French doors to a courtyard for alfresco dining with BBQ facilities and also a sheltered lawn at the front of the cottage. Upstairs is a spacious area with a king bed, a king single bed, walk in wardrobe and bathroom. A 40” TV with Sky movies and sport, a bluetooth Bose speaker, internet and computer access are provided. There is ample parking available.
The cottage is set in parklike grounds nestled between 3.6 hectares of beautiful native mixed hardwood / podocarp forest, with centuries-old trees, and the boutique vineyard. Native tree, plant varieties and birds abound in this rare lowland forest relic. Guests are invited to explore the native forest, vineyard, olive grove, eucalypt stand, and citrus grove and swim or relax by the pool – this stunning 10-hectare property located on the banks of the Moutere River has it all.
The cottage is perfectly located in the centre of Moutere wine country and 10 minutes to the Māpua coastal village with cafes, restaurants and stores. Neudorf Road is heartland for the Moutere Artisans.
Family and friends love staying in our cottage and now we are happy to offer this accommodation to guests. We live on the property and enjoy the lifestyle after living and travelling for 10 years in Europe and the United States. The cottage is perfect for relaxing or a great central location for numerous outdoor pursuits. Mike has hiked extensively in New Zealand and particularly in the South Island and is happy to offer suggestions and advice about all local outdoor activities.
From the cottage, it is a 15-minute drive to the Motueka River for trout fishing, swimming, and kayaking and 20 minutes to the Rabbit Island beach for swimming in Tasman Bay and biking along the Great Taste Trail. There are two golf courses within 20 minutes drive. Kahurangi National Park, with access to Mt Arthur walks, is a 40-minute drive as is the start of the beautiful Abel Tasman National Park. Nelson Lakes National Park for swimming and walking is 1hour and 15 minutes away as is the access to Mt Owen (LOTR country). Boat launching to enjoy Tasman Bay for great snapper, kahawai and kingfish fishing and to access the beautiful Abel Tasman coast is only 20 minutes away in Motueka.
