Living at West End has been our playground involving water sports ranging from paddling boarding, surfing, kayaking, surfcasting and of course swimming and wading in the shallows. The local bush clad hills provide several walks around the heads to private bays and jaunts through native New Zealand bush with birdlife a plenty. The bush behind us and the ocean in front - our place our paradise is ready for sharing with our guests.

We are wedged between the pohutukawa-clad cliffs and a minutes stroll to the broad, flat expanse of Ohope Beach. Ocean View in West End Beach, is a quiet no-exit road that separates the motel from the sand and ocean waves. The apartments 1 and 2 are up a level to allow views of West End Beach and Whale Island.Each has a covered deck and outdoor furniture to view the beach and the surrounding environment in a quiet private elevated position. The studio has ocean views from its deck. The air con provides comforts to suit all our guests. LED television with 50 plus SKY channels is available. For the master chef a full set of cooking utensils, oven, fridge and microwave are in apartments 1,2 and 3. You can appreciate the spaciousness of apartment 3 with uninterrupted and expansive views of Whale Island, White Island and East Cape. Enjoy the sunrise over East Cape from the cosy-ness of the lounge or the fresh air of the deck. The lounge allows all guests to view the changing sea scape through all weathers all year round.

Ocean View is a elegant accommodation situated in 18 West End Road, nestled in a small beach side community with awesome neighbours, and friendly residents. For your convenience, it is just a walk of 200 metres to restaurant, shop, two cafes, Thai restaurant, art boutique and if you wish to dine further a field arrangements for a courtesy van is available for the Ohope Charter Club. For the sports enthusiasts, tennis courts 2 kms away and the Ohope Golf course is 10 kms from our motel. The Ohiwa Harbour is a playground for sailors, fishers, swimmers, paddle boarders and motorboats. The area prides itself in maintaining the balance with the richness of the marine bio diversity of this still very natural environment. For the history buff the area is rich in Maori and early European history. Visits to the museum in Whakatane, Opotiki, Wairaka Marae and Taneatua's living building a must.
