Pataua South is a unique township - apart from 5 weeks after Christmas when the population grows by 2000 people, there only is 50-75 live here. This is due to the motor camp and 70% of homes are holiday homes.
Pataua North and South are located either side of a large estuary. Our home is located overlooking the estuary entrance and Mount Pataua. There is excellent safe swimming right off the deck, you can throw a stone into the water at high tide. The estuary is very tidal but there is always water in the channels even at low tide.
We moved here from Wellington in 2017 and love it here. Our two dogs Maxine and Moro, in particular, think it is doggy paradise. Not too bad for humans too.
Our health has improved, both mentally and physically since the move.
It is so peaceful here, but at the same time, there is plenty of adventures to have and places to explore. It is totally up to you.
The cabin is fully self contained however the toilet and shower are in another small building which is 10 metres away from the cabin.
A same-sex couple since 1995. The other two members of our family are two Rottweilers called Maxine and Moro. Both extremely well-socialized dogs. Max in particularly enjoys having more people the merrier around.
I am into spearfishing, swimming, pickleball and going on adventures with the girls (the dogs).
We did Airbnb for a couple of years in Wellington and really enjoyed it.
There are endless beaches and bays. Mountains tracks and walkways. There nearest shops is Parua Bay which is 10 minutes drive away. Which also has a community centre(all sorts of sports are played there, and activities) and squash courts as well. Bowling greens too.
