The east facing deck of the apartment, with a view of Oneroa Bay and Beach, leads from the open plan living/ dining/kitchen area. It is ideal for a sunny breakfast or lunch, or a cool afternoon/evening drink. The bedroom also opens onto this deck, with a view of the Bay and native bush.
At the bottom of the drive, cross the road to the beach for a swim, walk or picnic. And a five minute walk via the beach or road gets you to the cafes and shops of Oneroa Village. There are also several bushwalks in the immediate area.
We are about a 25 minute walk from the Matiatia ferry, or the 50A, 50B, 502/503 bus stops on the corner of Korora Road and Oceanview Road, outside the library, and we are a 5-7 minute walk further down Korora Road on the left. And of course there are taxis, car rental agencies, moto and bike rentals, along with several private tour companies. Buses are scheduled to meet ferries arriving at and departing from Matiatia Wharf. We are about a 10-15 minute drive from the Kennedy Point car ferry terminal.
The various bus routes follow main key roads with bus stops near most of the island’s important locations, and the All day Bus Pass allows unlimited travel on the day
We have all lived and worked for many years around the world, and still travel extensively, so have had and continue to have the opportunity to appreciate so many amazing people and their cultures. We felt now it was time to share our part of the stunning Hauraki Gulf, Waiheke Island in particular, with you all.
We can also offer boat parking if you decide to bring your boat. We are opposite the boat ramp of Oneroa Beach.
The Oneroa Village, with shops and restaurants, is a 5 minute walk away. You will find a well-stocked Four Square store, along with all facilities such as a bank, post office, pharmacy, real estate agencies, and many restaurants, bars and cafes: Oyster Inn, Vino Vino, Fenice, the Courtyard, Aperitivo, to name a few. The fish and chip shop, The Local, has an amazing view of the Bay, and you can have a beer or glass of wine too, or you can take away. Other dine-in or take-away outlets are Adajz, for Indian, Red Crab for Thai food, or Dragonfired for pizza.
There is also an excellent Countdown Supermarket in Ostend, which is on the bus route.
There are vineyards in the surrounding area, Cable Bay and Mudbrick, but many more in other parts of the island. The bus service enables you to visit many of the wineries, restaurants, beaches and tourist sites. Stonyridge, Te Motu, and Tantalus vineyards are on the bus route. Batch Winery offers a complimentary bus service.
To get to Peacock Sky, Man O'War, Poderi Crisci, and Passage Rock vineyards, you would need a car or take a tour.
All outdoor activities are are offered on Waiheke, with the island having many walking tracks.
