Welcome to Acheron Cottages - your home away from home. The cottages are fully self-contained and have all that you need for a self catering holiday. But if you don't feel like cooking there are cafes and restaurants nearby also. Indoors has all you require to be warm and comfortable. We have outdoor barbecues in a sheltered area. Countryside and mountain views are all around.

Jo and Reg welcome you to stay. We have lived in Manapouri for over 27 years (since 1994) – we owned the local petrol station for the first couple of years that we came to the area. At the time that we purchased the petrol station we also purchased a small kayaking operation – we built this business up to include our main product which was “kayak and cruise tours” to Doubtful Sound. We operated these tours for 21 seasons until the close of the summer season in April 2016 when we sold the kayak tour business to another local operator.. We will continue to operate lake cruises on Lake Manapouri. We purchased the cottages from our neighbour in September 2016. We live on a small lifestyle block a short distance from the cottages.

The cottages are located on the outskirts of the Manapouri township in a semirural area but are only a two minute drive to the lake, township and Doubtful Sound tour departure point. There are rural and awesome, everchanging mountain views from the property. The local alpaca farm and fibre shop is located a 5 minute walk away. Te Anau which is our closest service town is 20 minutes drive away - you can enjoy a meal at the restaurants there, view Ata Whenua at the cinema, take the boat cruise to the glow worm caves or continue on to Milford Sound or enjoy a myriad of other outdoor activities..
