Bø Huset

I live in Switzerland and work in the art and design field. Bø, Sortland is my favorite place in the world! There is no contrast better than that of urban and country living. You may notice that the house is filled with art. We are a family of international artists. We are also very connected to artists in the region.

What makes this property special is that it is located on farmland between nature and fjords—literally, and is surrounded by breathtaking beauty. All the while, you have easy access to town and shopping. The house was built by my grandfather in the early '60's so it has a bit of a mid century feeling. The house is incredibly cozy and comfortable-- and thoughtfully design. I myself was the utmost comfort when I stay there and want my guests to have that too. The room sizes are ample and not cluttered. The bedding and bath towels are 100% cotton and linen. We have local bread, milk and breakfast ready for you. We want you to feel like you have come home.

Located outside of Sortland, not far from Stockmarknes, in Vesterålen, Northern Norway. We are 200km north of the Arctic Circle. Home to Northern Lights and exceptional hiking and skiing. We are on a farm, surrounded by nature. There are wide open and unobstructed views of the fjords and tiger teeth mountains, as well as immediate access to nature from your doorstep. Hiking is just behind the house. If you continue walking up the dirt road, passing the farm on the right and finally passing the house on the left. Keep going until you hit a fence. Once you go through the gate you are in the wild. Please do not leave the gate open. All the farmers let all the animals free behind this gate during the entire summer months. (Do not go hiking alone.) Once you are beyond the gates you can take a 100 different routes. A favorite walk is straight up staying on the dirt road walking along the stream on the right side. The stream is extremely cold but worth taking a dip. It's clean so you can drink the water. During the winter months, there are extensively groomed Nordic Ski trails, which are also lit for night skiing. It's a total ski adventure not to be missed.
