The Farmhouse burnt down in1924 and was rebuilt into the impressive farmhouse it is today. The Kosters have totally renovated the house to a high standard. Many reclamation yards were visited where a fireplace, sanitary and floors to name a few things were found .The interior walls are made from cob (sand, clay and straw) which gives the house a warm and authentic atmosphere.Since the children have flown the nest, Bob and Wendy changed "de voorhuis" (front of the house) into this sizeable cosy b&b which sleeps 4 people. The B&B has its own garden and different sitting areas and it also has its own entrance. The rooms are decorated to a very high standard and with enormous attention to detail. The very comfortable beds are made up with beautiful linen from "The White Co."and there are lovely smellies in the 2 bathrooms. There are 2 big bedrooms upstairs and one doubles up as a sittingroom with TV and netflix. The sitting/bedroom is fusion style a bit like my cooking! Downstairs is a fantastic hand built oak kitchen with all you need (oven too) and I always provide breakfast the evening before in the fridge for you to make yourselves. It is also possible to order a dinner for the 1st night.
Hello, I am English and married to a Dutch man, Bob. We met in North Thailand whilst backpacking around Asia and we have two children. I have lived in Holland for 27 years and speak (almost) fluent Dutch. I am fanatic about my garden and nature both of which are my meditation! Ollie, a Jack Russel is the newest addition to the family, presently we only have one dog. A while ago I had my own catering company, Delicious Dishes, I gave high tea and cooking workshops, I also catered for parties, but all good things come to an end, the work was a bit much so now.... this B&B. I have a great group of friends around me some of which are in my filmgroup that I set up. I do painting. drawing and calligraphy courses. Amongst other things I enjoy reading, photography, eating, interior design and backpacking. We have backpacked in Asia but this year we went to Peru, S. America for the first time, fantastic ! The most important things to me in life, besides the family and health, are friends, space, peace in all shapes and form, trying to put back into life what one gets out of it and harmony in all I do. I believe and hear that our B&B also has harmony with the rest of its surroundings.
Tonden is a small village and we are on the edge of it, there are no shops or pubs, you'll need to go to Zutphen or one of the other villages for those amenities ! On my website there are lots of photos of the surrounding area, countryside and woods are around and nearby us. However it's not totally "boring" here, we have just had Tonden Theatre Tour which involves 4 groups of 35 people cycling around and getting to see different sorts of theatre in peoples houses. There is also a club house (De Sterre) for children activities and there are even some activities for adults. Zutphen which is a medieval country town is about 6 klm away and one can see the sky line from our house. There are lovely walks in the area and it's a great place for bike tours. This is a chill place, a place for peace and quiet but with the option of going to visit beautiful and interesting towns or cities. Nothing is far away in Holland so a day trip to Amsterdam or one of the other cities is possible. We are also very close to the National Veluwe Park where the famous Kroller Muller museum is, Gorssel is even closer by with the MORE museum. Vorden can offer a castle route. Don't worry there is plenty to do.
