Built metres from the beautiful beach in Henties Bay, Namibia, with spectacular ocean views, Desert Rose will certainly appeal to the outdoor loving, adventure seeking family.
Henties Bay is located along the National West Coast Recreation Area and is accessed via the slat road from Swakopmund or the gravel road from Spitzkoppe. It is a well-known base for exploring the fascinating expanses of the world’s oldest desert, the Namib, which is a World Heritage site.
Hentie's Bay perches aloft on the edge of the dunes overlooking pristine beaches stretching north and south as far as the eye can see. Photographers and nature lovers alike relish the small lifeforms and delicate lichens found along these expanses bordering the Skeleton Coast of Namibia.
Famous for its harsh treatment of sailors and explorers, the Skeleton Coast reaches all the way from Cape Cross northwards to the Kunene River and the border with Angola, littered with what remains of the ships, whales and men that gave it its name.

Swakopmund, Namibia’s adventure capital is located just 70km from Henties Bay, with enough activities to fill several day trips during your stay at Desert Rose.
Here you can get a bird’s eye view of the desert as you race towards earth on a tandem skydive, you can traipse through the sands on a camel, enjoy the rush of a scenic quad bike ride, or take up the challenge of a 4x4 adventure.
Swakopmund is also the venue for fascinating desert tours which bring to light the amazing creatures and plants, many of them unique to the Namib, that survive in this inhospitable place.
Closer to home, the dry expanses of the Omaruru River Bed present a unique golfing challenge among the sands. This nine-hole golf course extends for 2.7 km, with well-tended grass greens and fairways comprised of virgin desert sand. There are three par 3, two par 5 and four par 4 holes.
The course comes to an end at an unexpected oasis – a natural freshwater spring among the sands, where an island, sloping banks, mud flats, and reeds provide a haven for visiting birds to roost.
