Its surroundings are safe and harmonious with almost zero crime to mention. Due to its size and location its not always easy to provide what your average city hotel does. Quality of live is much better in a small village compared to the fast pace we were accustomed to in a bigger city such as Windhoek. The surrounding granite "koppies", harsh desert landscape with its miles and miles of sand dunes engulfing Kolmanskop, all the way down to Luderitz situated at the edge of the cold Atlantic Ocean, continue to inspire us. The upliftment of the Aus community remain close to our hearts. We champion a few community projects that provide work and beautify of our village. The small town of Aus has an astonishing rich history dating back to German colonial times. This charming village was once the hub of many Oxen-wagon transporters and traders. Remains of the POW (prisoners of war) camp can still be seen today followed by many stories of hardship, bravery, diamond rushes and the coming of the railway. Activities in and around Aus are informative and fascinating. The sunset drive to the top of a granite hill at the edge of town is a must for guests who appreciate solitude and picturesque sunsets over endless vistas of pristine desert landscape.
