We, Silani & Neville, are partners with artistic backgrounds. Silani is a professional vocalist and, after years of enjoying cooking to fame among a widening circle of friends, recently did her own café for several months. Neville has been an off-beat journalist, a documentary film-maker and still blogs. With the expansion of tourism in Sri Lanka, we want to mix our work with some relaxed community and, do it in a cool, quiet place. Our ‘cool hospitality’ venture wants to share in Trincomalee’s growth as a stunning beach resort by blending with the local and bridging cultures. The travellers we host will share in our little ambience of relaxation and empathy.
For a start, we managed a café and guesthouse near the beach in Trincomalee for the season last year. Many are our guests who appreciated our hosting. Some thought we were among the warmest in the hospitality they experienced in Sri Lanka. Many came just for Sila’s food!
With this success, we decided to start our own guest house in Uppuveli, Trincomalee. So here we are with our dream a reality - Silaa Cabana.
