A very old promise
There is an old tree in the yard of Hyoudang Chunghoon historic
house. I think about how deep the roots of that old tree must
have gone - probably having survived hundreds of years through
all sorts of weather, from heat waves to freezing temperatures.
The duty of the head family house is to remember that it is
the roots that support the old tree. Holding ancestral rites and
attending to relatives and guests are also important parts of this
duty .
The people of Hyoudang live by keeping very old promises. Like
that old tree, the history and culture of the family that has stood
the test of time is embedded in every corner of the house.
It will also be meaningful to appreciate and experience it during
your comfortable stay.
Hyoudang will be here without being wobbled or withered, like
a tree with deep roots or water with deep springs.

The Space at Hyowudang
Hyowudang is a private hanok, independent of the main house (jongtaek), offering exclusive lodging and dining.
The house includes a large bath, small bath, Western-style bedroom, ondol room, living room, and dining room, within a 150-pyeong (approx. 500 sqm) courtyard.
Only one group is hosted per day, ensuring a serene and private stay.
Fabrics and Thoughtfulness
Bedding, towels, and robes are crafted by artisan Ko Somi of Somidang.
Natural fabrics — linen, ramie, sochang (gauze), and gwangmok (cotton) — are used.
Each day, the jongbu launders and starches duvets for a crisp, refined feel.
The Spirit of Jongga Hospitality
Guided by “奉祭祀接賓客” (Serving the Ancestors, Welcoming Guests), we prepare the house with care and sincerity.
Our wish is not simply to host, but to welcome each guest as a meaningful connection, with warmth and heartfelt hospitality.
