“It's the second time I've stayed here and I will be staying again. I adore this little house, it's staff, location, coffee, history and comfort.”
Tokyo Little House is an accommodation and tourist space located in a 70-year-old house at the heart of ever-changing Tokyo. Upstairs is a private residential hotel. Downstairs, a cafe and gallery. Built in a field of ruins in 1948, our little house watched the city emerge from the darkness of ashes into the glow of today's neon lights. The second-floor accommodation lets travelers experience a family home that has endured through seven decades of Tokyo's transformation.
The open-plan space can accommodate up to three people and is best suited for couples or families, with a queen-size bed and sofa bed in the bedroom, and two Japanese futons for the living room (please inquire regarding accommodation for families of four with children). The house was renovated in 2018 with a new kitchen, shower, toilet, and washing machine.
Please note: the stairs to the second floor are quite steep and unsuitable for guests with limited physical ability. In addition, the house is located at the heart of a lively entertainment district, and noise from the street out front can often be heard. The house has been upgraded with sound-resistant double windows and a white noise machine and earplugs are provided, but on some nights light sleepers may be disturbed.
Tokyo Little House is run by four staff members. Two are siblings whose grandmother originally lived in the house. In addition to the hotel and cafe, we also have a small publishing office in the back of the house. Tokyo Little House is a space where we share our passion for the city's history, geography, and culture. Please come downstairs for a free welcome drink and ask us anything you want to know about the city in order to have the best possible stay!
Tokyo Little House is located in a dense area of restaurants and shops close to the National Parliament, Imperial Palace, and Roppongi. Three metro stations are within a five minute walk of the house, allowing access to all of central Tokyo within about 20 minutes.
