The seven-story building has been continuously renovated and well maintained to meet the needs of customers while keeping good aspects of traditions and hospitality of Ryokan, a traditional Japanese inn. Large storefront windows with a “noren” curtain hanging over the entrance give an inviting atmosphere and traditional look to the building. The lobby is comfortably spacious. There are a coffee counter where fresh roasted specialty coffees are served and a souvenir shop where extensive selections of local arts and crafts are exhibited for sale in the lobby. A large drawing of bird’s-eye view of old Kyoto created by a famous Japanese artist, Hatsusaburo Yoshida, is aligned on a wall at the back of the lobby. One of many features of Ryokufuso is a good sweeping view of Kyoto city from “Daiyokujyo” (large shared bath) on the sixth floor. Guests can enjoy it while relaxing in the large hot tub. Private bathrooms are also available in guest rooms.
