AOI Guest House is a private house nestled in the green neighbourhood of Kyoto Botanical Gardens. Conveniently located near Kitayama station and Kyoto International Conference Centre (Kokusaikaikan), it serves an ideal base to explore all the major attractions in the city, as well as off-the beaten track such as the elusive temples in the snow-capped Mt. Hiei.

Kitayama is a sophisticated area in Kyoto, blessed with plenty of specialised shops such as patisserie Malebranche, restaurant Toyotei, bakery Shinshindo for your gourmet lunch or sweet treat. You can also visit the Kyoto Botanical Gardens and enjoy your lunch at the restaurant 'In the Green', overlooking the garden. Also, there are supermarket Fresco, 'convenience store' Lawson and Seven & Eleven near the guesthouse. If you are curious to learn about local culture and history, visit Kyoto Prefectural Library or enjoy live music at Kyoto Concert Hall (both conveniently located on Shimogamo naka St., 2 min walk). The famous Shimogamo Shrine is also in a walking distance. Or why not stroll along the beautiful cherry tree-lined Kamo River to the mysterious Takaragaike Pond? If you walk to Takaragaike, you will find the big bus terminal in front of Kokusai-kaikan (Kyoto International Conference Hall) Station nearby. It is a hub terminal from where you can reach practically everywhere, such as history-laden Sanzenin and Ohara area. There are several direct services to Kyoto Station, too. I also recommend visiting Kurama Temple from Kibune.
