The House was built in the seventies and has followed the family ever since. This year (2017) the house was upgraded and a new building was built to serve as studio rooms. The house sits next to road 1 around Iceland.

Egilsstadir airport is 1 km away and central Egilsstadir is 2 km away.
Egilsstadir is the central hub of east Iceland so it's easy to go down to the fjords or up to the mountains. There are many hiking places around Egilsstadir like Stórurð, Snæfell and the third tallest waterfall in the country, Hengifoss : 128m (420ft) The hike from the car park take about 50 to 60 min, from there is one of the most renowned building in Iceland, Skriduklaustur. From Lagerfells Studios is about a 30 min drive to both the waterfall and Skriduklaustur.
The biggest forest in Iceland is located 15 to 20 min drive from were you are staying.
