The original building was built in 1886 by the foundation commemorating Baron Montefiore in effort to house the growing Jewish population outside the walls of the Old City of Jerusalem. In the archway of the alley leading to the building is the inscription commemorating Baron Montefiore and naming the neighborhood. Throughout history the cluster of neighborhoods known as Cachalot has known changes and development but has always been one of the most beautiful and cultural landmarks. The beautiful stone alleys and courtyards are peaceful and picturesque while the bustling, everchanging Mahane Yehuda Market just across the street, always offers new dining options and activities.

The Market Courtyard – Jerusalem Suites is a unique residence in Jerusalem. The Market Courtyard offers beautiful, newly built vacation apartments, fully furnished for either short term or long term stays.
The Market Courtyard consists of different apartments and suites, all surrounding a lovely enclosed and sheltered courtyard. The courtyard was especially built to resemble the original communal courtyards of the historical neighborhood. It is paved with Jerusalem stone, as are the apartments.
