Vimy House was unofficially dubbed as such back in the 90s by a family friend who noticed that the monument dedicated to the crashing of the Alcock & Brown plane in the area in 1919, was visible across the bay from the home and then suggested the house should be named after the Vimy Bomber.
The property has since been passed down to the son of the original builders and owners of the house and it felt only right that we should officially name the house in their memory.
Hi, we are a young family living on the property in Vimy House. The main house was built in the 80s by the owners parents who did rent out several of the rooms of the house as B&B a few decades back, we like to think we are carrying on this grand tradition of hosting travelers who wish to visit this scenic and historic area in our own way.
The Chalet that you'll be staying in was built on the property back in the early 2000s and has been continuously renovated and updated.
It is nestled off the beaten track, reached via a private road so peace and quiet from road noise will be guaranteed.
The property is surrounded by properties exclusively owned by relatives of the host including the lovely Ardmore House B&B next door, owners of which have allowed access to our guests to their private cliff walk, located at the end of the road.
You reach the house by driving along the scenic lower Sky Road, with the viewing point on the Upper Sky Road visible from the property - reachable by car, bike or foot if the weather permits. Vimy House prides itself on creating an atmosphere of peace and relaxation, with mountain views and a garden swing to unwind at the end of your day, no doubt filled with exploration.
The hosts live on the property, right next door so never fear - help is always available should you need it.
