Sumbawa is one of the largest and most unpopulated islands in Indonesia. This is evident around Merdeka House with secluded and hassle free beaches, waterfalls and walking tracks. You can wake up early and watch the fishing boats with their baskets of fish returning from a night at sea. The fishermen sell the fish straight from the beach or you can head to the local fresh food and handicraft markets. Some things to lookout for are Sumbawa coffee beans and mangosteens. Along with West Sumbawa antiques and hand woven baskets.
