Monyash is a beautiful old limestone village at the head of beautiful Lathkill Dale surrounded by stunning scenery. A picturesque green, with the remnants of an old market cross, is at the centre of this peaceful village set a classic White Peak landscape. It was formerly an important centre for lead mining and agriculture and grew up around a series of meres or ponds, which once held the village water supply. There are some excellent walking routes from the village, with the Limestone Way passing through the village. To the east is the delightful Lathkill Dale and routes radiate out over the limestone plateau in all directions. With just a 5 minute walk to The Bull’s Head, one of the oldest buildings in the village and is renowned for its great food and good beer. There is also a popular café next door, The Old Smithy tea rooms.
