公司信息
Heart of Scotland Holidays is a not-for-profit company set up to support the maintenance of the listed building in whose grounds the units are built, and to generate funds for mental health work.
We welcomed our first guests in the summer of 2024 and are very much a family affair. Heather and Matt live on-site and run the company, and Heather's parents, Finlay and Henrietta, are often to be found helping out with changeovers or the garden.
Our site is just off the M9 motorway near Falkirk, about half an hour from the centres of both Edinburgh and Glasgow, and 20 minutes from Stirling. Polmont station is around a 10 minute walk, and Edinburgh airport is about 15-20 minutes by car. The Kelpies are about 4km away, and the Falkirk Wheel is about 8km. We are also surrounded by filming locations from the Outlander series, and are happy to point you in the direction of these if you fancy a visit.
住宿信息
Our six holiday units are set in a historic and tranquil walled garden beside a listed building. All units sleep four in two bedrooms and have basic cooking facilities (microwave, toaster, kettle, and two-ring plug-in hob) plus access to a fully-equipped guest kitchen, including laundry facilities. There is a communal BBQ area with fire-pit, and each unit has a deck or patio with a table and chairs. A range of garden games are available for kids (or adults!).
Unit 1 (The Kennel) has a fenced garden to suit guests with dogs. Its two bedrooms can be either kingsize or twin (two singles). Up to four dogs are welcome for no extra charge (no cats) and we provide a dog bed, bowls, paw-washer, dog towel, treats, and toys for our canine guests.
Unit 2 (The Treehouse) is a fun, family-oriented unit with three circular rooms at different heights. There is a bunkbed room and a superking (can be converted to two singles). This unit is no pets.
Unit 3 (Cat Cabin) is designed for guests with cats: double-door entry to prevent escapes, scratching/climbing posts and a rope-bridge on the walls, and a screened litter-tray area. There is a double bedroom and a ‘sleeping nook’ with two singles. Up to four cats are welcome for no extra charge (no dogs) and we provide a cat bed, bowls, treats, and toys for our feline guests.
Unit 4 (The Bothy) is a quirky stone-and-slate cottage with a deceptively lofty interior. There is a superking bedroom downstairs (can be two singles) and an attic upstairs that can be either an adult chill-out zone with two day-beds, or two singles. This unit is no pets.
Unit 5 (Boathouse) has a superking bedroom downstairs (usually made up as two singles), and a kingsize (can be two singles) on a mezzanine overlooking the spacious living area. Up to two pets are welcome for a small charge.
Unit 6 (Logstack) sits beside our pond and the guest kitchen. Its two bedrooms can be either kingsize or twin (two singles). Up to two pets are welcome for a small charge.
周边信息
Polmont is a large village just outside Falkirk. The village centre, which is less than five minutes walk, has four takeaways, a restaurant, a pub, an Aldi supermarket, and a post office, as well as a hair salon and other amenities, and there's a second restaurant about a five minute walk in the other direction, not to mention the countless takeaways who deliver to the site, and all the many other restaurants in the area. Across the road from the end of the drive is the Polmont Woods, which includes part of the Antonine Wall and leads to the Millhall Reservoir, making an excellent place for a wander. For those wanting to walk or cycle further afield, the Union Canal is just a bit further up the hill from the station, and the towpaths lead to Edinburgh in the East, and past Glasgow in the west.
