We are Steve and Lorraine Nolan. We live here at Clouds with our son Archie, our dog Chloe and we occasionally allow local crofters (farmers) to place animals such as lambs, calves, sheep and cows in our surrounding fields. We try to be as kind as we can be to the planet on which we live, but room for improvement is always there, and that’s fine - it gives us something new to strive for.
We try to grow our own vegetables with varying degrees of success. We generate some of our own electricity through solar panels on our land and all our hot water to the house is provided by an air source heat pump.
We aim to cut all single use plastic we use ourselves and we provide recyclable bags and containers whenever we can. We’d love to learn from anyone with good ideas about sustainable ways to live, but everyone has their own way, and we respect this.
We hope you enjoy your time here. We'd love to chat to you about your experiences as we also love to travel when we can.
Linicro is perfect for those who like to relax and enjoy nature. Clouds B&B is surrounded by 4 acres of land, so there are no immediate neighbours. It's possible to walk, cycle or run straight from the property, as long as care is taken with traffic on the single-track road - it isn't that busy. There is a new activity centre just 200 metres away where kayaks, bikes, walks, co-steering and the like can all be arranged.
The people of this area are kind and friendly - the local 'industry' is crofting (farming), so at certain times of year you're as likely to see sheep or cows being herded down the road as you are to see cars or lots of people.
Most of all, this area has the freshest of fresh air - You're surrounded by it everywhere. It's a beautiful place to live, and to visit.
There are restaurants, take-aways, cafes, shops and a petrol station in Uig, just 4 miles away. The main town of Portree has all you'd expect in a small sized town.
We'd be delighted to answer any questions you have in advance of your stay with us.
