Clock House is in a quiet, rural setting, tucked away down a gravel drive but within the centre of the village - only 5 minutes walk to the village shop and local pub. Guests can relax in one of the communal seating areas outside on the terrace or in the grassed paddock, that looks onto a field of cows and sheep and beyond. A great location in which to unwind and enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.
The Clock House B&B team and owners, which consists of Chris and Mella, will welcome you to your accommodation and be pleased to show you around the gardens and surrounding area. We live on the premises in the main Georgian house and share responsibility for looking after our guests. This is a new business venture for us having decided to leave the noise and fast pace of London for a quieter and slower life style in Dorset.
Marnhull is the largest village in England with over 2,500 inhabitants, two pubs, three churches, two village shops, a hairdressers, Post Office and curtain/fabric shop. Although in North Dorset it is still only a 45 minute drive to the coast (admittedly longer in the height of the summer season!) where guests can enjoy amazing beaches, coastal walks and views of the famous Dorset coastline, such as Durdle Door, Lulworth Cove and Dancing Ledge.
Few areas have such a strong association with Thomas Hardy, whose words hang in the air across the region, especially around Dorchester, the heathy heartland of his Wessex world. Visit Cerne Abbas, the huge statue carved into the flanks of Giant Hill hundreds of years ago, or follow in the footsteps of the Tolpuddle marchers, or chase the headless ghost of Sir Walter Raleigh around the pirate lord"s ole estate at Sherborne castle. And so much more ....
