Forcalquier and the region are for me the authentic Provence, where nature, history, art and people meet in an exciting mixture.
I have been spending vacations since ten years in the region, and I have not yet exhausted all the things to do and to discover.
When I discovered this house more than ten years ago, I was immediately in love and I still am, with the private and lush garden, the sunny exposure, the views from the house, the guest house in the garden, and the location of the property at short walking distance to the center of town.
住宿信息
The compound of villa and small guesthouse surrounded by the garden, is located in Forcalquier. Although it is less than 10 minutes walking distance from the village center, the property offers privacy and calm.
The house has been totally renovated.
The rooms are bright. The house offers views on the old village of Forcalquier and Luberon Mountains.
The living quarters are fully furnished. The lush garden offers a pleasant refuge.
Forcalquier and the region offer a large variety of outdoor activities (Regional Park of Luberon, Canyon of Verdon), as well as cultural activities (music festivals, historic places) and typical Provence villages to visit.
Through its proximity to the old village, and its being located in a region rich of all sorts of activities the property offers an ideal vacation residence for a large family and guests.
Forcalquier boasts a 12th century cathedral, Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, an ancient, centuries old center featuring Renaissance fountains, doorways from the 12th to 16th centuries, and the rests of its Citadel at the top of the village, the Chapel Notre-Dame-de-Provence and a 37-bell carillon, which offers breathtaking views on the region.
周边信息
In Forcalquier do not miss the Monday farmers' market, famous in the region, the Sunday midday carillon concert that one could fully hear in the house, and the Sunday evening organ concert in the cathedral.
Visit, at short driving distances, the Priory of Salagon (Benedictine Abbey), the Chateau de Sauvan, the Monastry of Ganagobie, the picturesque villages of Simiane la Rotonde, Dauphin, Banon, Cruis, Lurs, Saint Etienne les Orgues and many others.
At about one hour driving distance are to discover the typical Provencal villages of Roussillon, Gordes, Lacoste, Bonnieux, and more. Other musts are the lavender fields of Valensole, the Cistercian Abbey of Sénanque, the winery of La Coste and its park of replica of modern architecture and sculptures.
One should plan day trips at one to one and half hour driving distance, like visits to the South to Aix en Provence, Marseille and its brand new museum the Mucem in the old port, the Calanques of the region and the Cote Bleue on the Mediterranean, and to the West the historical city of Avignon and the Palais des Papes.
Finally music festivals and cultural activities are a distinct feature of the region.
