Bienvenue to 1854 Chassors! We hope you will love this property and area as much as we do. Whilst totally private and perfect for relaxing in total calm, you are only a short distance from the historical and beautiful towns of Jarnac and Cognac and of course the fantastic river Charente.
Avid enthusiasts of exercise, hence the fully equipped gym and cycle hire we also like to explore the gastronomy of the region for which it is renowned.
English and Australian natives, we speak fluent French so can help you with anything and are happy to make reservations and provide you with any tips on how to make the most of your holiday. We live in the main house and have our own terrace. We do not use any of the facilities. The property is yours to enjoy!

Built in 1854 and set in 5 acres, the 2 newly renovated self catering gites form part of a stunning former Cognac distillery and situated in the courtyard outbuildings. Hidden behind high walls and private gates, you can relax in either a 3 bed, 3 bathroom gite or a 2 bed, 2 ensuite gite. Italian showers throughout. Enjoy the spacious, secluded grounds and fantastic facilities including a beautiful swimming and relaxation area within the former distillery walls, fitness and games area, pétanque lawn and covered barbecue area .
1854 Chassors is nestled in a small village surrounded by vineyards, only 4km and 10km from Jarnac and Cognac respectively - perfect for exploring the beautiful countryside, villages, vineyards, river Charente, beaches and of course picturesque French life.
Both gites are furnished to a very high standard and has everything you might need. It is truly a home away from home with a few extras on hand.
Enjoy our welcome basket - Sample the delicacies. Simply tell us your choice of red, white, rose or sparkling grape juice and a bottle will be waiting for you.
Delicious warm bread is left outside your door daily.

This area has something for everyone! Perfect for families and groups and only 1h45 on the TGV from Paris to Angouleme.
Why not find out about the history of cognac at the museum and of course a tasting at one of the famous houses or visit a local producer in our neighbouring village followed by a 3 course set menu du jour at a local restaurant.
Visit the historical towns of Cognac, Saintes or Angouleme. Saintes has the largest roman amphitheatre outside of Italy in Europe. Set within the ramparts, Angoulême is the European capital of cartoons which are fun to look at wandering through the streets.
You can enjoy all sorts of activities - walking, cycling, swimming, rowing, fishing or simply watch the beautiful scenery . There is also an international golf course only 6 km away.
In less than an hour you can enjoy many beaches on the Atlantic coast starting from Royan up to La Rochelle and the Ile de Re. We highly recommend a visit to beautiful Talmont followed by a leisurely lunch at St Palais sur Mer and an afternoon on the beach.
A little further afar, Bordeaux is a revitalised and historic city well worth a day visit and only 90 minutes by car.
