Mas de Muntaner is located in the Burga valley in southern Catalonia. The estate is located in a beautiful spot with a very special view of the Burga valley and the surrounding mountains. The old masia from the 18th century and the two luxurious holiday apartments are surrounded by olive trees, almond trees and pine trees, interspersed with fragrant rosemary and thyme. It is the ideal place to unwind and relax and to use as a base for activities in the area.
Mas de Muntaner is located in the interior of the province of Tarragona, between the villages of Tivissa, Rasquera, Ginestar and El Perelló. The rural estate is located far from the busy places, on a location where time seems to stand still and you can still really enjoy the silence, the flora and fauna. The last part of the route (approx. 15 minutes) to Mas de Muntaner is via an unpaved road. Although the dirt road is in fairly good condition and most cars can drive on it without any problems, a 4x4 or SUV is recommended.
We are Elise and Kris, the owners of Mas de Muntaner. In 2019 we discovered this gem in the south of Catalonia and decided it would be the perfect place to renovate and open up to guests. We then left our birth country The Netherlands to settle in Catalonia, Spain. In addition to the guest houses, we aim to restore the nearly 25 hectare estate after a long period of decay, and apply permaculture and regenerative agriculture to improve the quality of the soil and what grows there. We are happy to tell you more about our plans and activities during your visit!
The Burga valley is a beautiful, green valley where nature can still be admired. Rabbits, foxes, badgers, wild boars and birds of prey live in the area. Due to the remote location of Mas de Muntaner, it is very quiet, there is no light pollution at night and you can see lots of stars.
From Mas de Muntaner, the coast with endless beaches, hidden bays and clear blue water can be reached in half an hour. In addition, the area offers many tourist attractions, culture and activities, such as climbing, hiking, cycling, water sports, swimming, fishing, shopping and wine tastings.
