Chalupa Šiška is a newly reconstructed cottage located in the picturesque village of Dlouhý in the Bohemian Paradise (Český ráj) region. Šiška offers accommodation for up to six people, including children.
On the ground floor, you’ll find a fully equipped kitchen, a double bedroom with an en-suite toilet and shower, a living room, and a study. There’s also a beautiful and spacious covered terrace equipped with garden furniture and a barbeque. On the first floor, there are two bedrooms and a bathroom with a bathtub, as well as a seating area.
Šiška is ready for children. There are two cots, a highchair, a potty, a toilet seat for toddlers, and a selection of toys and books for children. The garden is equipped with a sandpit, bouncer, and a toy motorcycle. The front garden is fenced in and suitable for pets and toddlers. For those rainy days, there’s a TV with 64 channels and 10Mbps wireless internet throughout the house.
We’re a Czech-English family with two children. We live in Prague but have long wanted a cottage in the countryside. We started working towards fulfilling that dream five years ago when we bought Šiška in a dilapidated state. We’ve spent the past five years carefully and thoroughly reconstructing it to provide all the comfort and facilities of a modern family home. We offer guests what we ourselves expect from high-quality accommodation. We also use the cottage ourselves, so you won’t find a soulless environment typical of a hotel, but a real home away from home.
The cottage is located in the picturesque village of Dlouhý, about three kilometres from Železný Brod, in Bohemian Paradise (Český ráj). It’s ideal for all lovers of nature and/or active holidays, including cycling, hiking, rafting on the nearby river Jizera or for skiing in the winter. There’s an outdoor swimming pool in nearby Železný Brod, and another in Chuchelná, and there’s an aqua park in Turnov, around eight kilometres away.
For history lovers, we recommend visits to the many nearby castles and chateaux, particularly Sychrov and Hrubý Rohozec. For children, there’s the famous zoopark and a dinosaur park in the regional capital Liberec, which is around half an hour’s drive away from the cottage. In the nearby town of Malá Skála, approximately a ten-minute drive away, you’ll find raft rentals, the local Maloskalský brewery and the legendary Boučkův statek restaurant.
