The "Gädeli" was originally used as a barn and hay storage and is part of a heritage-protected ensemble along with the 450-year-old farmhouse. In 2023, I realized my dream of converting the Gädeli into a tiny house. The result is a unique gem that blends old-world charm with modern comfort. The little house has its own entrance and is surrounded by greenery, nestled between walnut and plum trees. The large kitchen windows make you feel as though you're right in the heart of nature, offering views of the garden and the Sachsler mountains. The spacious private terrace, complete with a sun umbrella, is the perfect spot to relax during the summer.
All the amenities are brand new and meet the highest modern standards. You’ll find internet, TV, a dishwasher, washing machine, iron, hairdryer, hot water bottle, and much more at your disposal. There is a parking spot conveniently located right next to the Gädeli, and check-in is hassle-free with a door code, eliminating the need for a key handover.
Since I live right across the street, I’m always close by and available to help with any issues or questions.
I live right across from the Gädeli in the 450-year-old farmhouse where I grew up. For over 10 years, I’ve been renting out rooms in the farmhouse and enjoy sharing the experience of living in a historic building with people from all over the world. The many wonderful encounters and conversations with my guests are the reason I love hosting. You meet people you otherwise never would have. When I’m not taking care of the rooms or the Gädeli, I spend a lot of time in the garden.
The Gädeli is ideally located in the heart of Switzerland, making it a perfect base for exploring the entire country. It’s a 7-minute walk to the train station, where trains depart three times an hour towards Interlaken or Lucerne. Famous attractions such as Mount Pilatus, Lucerne, Mount Rigi, the Ballenberg Open-Air Museum, or Jungfraujoch are all easily accessible by public transport.
But the immediate surroundings also have much to offer! In just five minutes, you can reach Lake Sarnen, which invites you for a lakeside stroll or a refreshing swim in the summer. The village of Sachseln, as the pilgrimage site of Saint Brother Klaus, boasts an impressive church and an interesting museum dedicated to the lives of the saint and his wife Dorothea. In nearby Flüeli-Ranft, you can also visit his former residences.
For nature lovers, there are countless well-marked hiking and cycling trails in the canton. A particularly special experience is visiting the small Melchaa Gorge between Sachseln and Giswil. From there, you can hike up to Älggi-Alp, the geographic center of Switzerland. In the winter, Canton Obwalden also has something for everyone with its three ski resorts: Melchsee-Frutt, Mörlialp, and Titlis.
A 10-minute walk takes you to the village center, where you can stock up on groceries at the Denner village store. Right next door, the ZumStein Bakery-Café offers a pleasant spot to relax in the village square. Sachseln also has a variety of dining options for all tastes: at Restaurant Engel, you can enjoy high-quality Swiss dishes, Restaurant Zollhaus is known for the best fish in the region, and Kebab Hüsli offers quick and affordable kebabs and pizzas when you're in a hurry.
