We’re a Swiss–Australian family living right here in Vitznau, and we love welcoming guests from all over the world. Our household language is a cheerful mix of English and Swiss German — we call it Swinglish. Philipp grew up in Vitznau, while Karen moved from Australia in 2003. Together we have twin daughters, Alessandra and Maliyah, who are always curious about where our guests are coming from and enjoy the international feel that Chalet Oz brings to our home. You may also meet our two rescue dogs. Milla prefers to keep a low profile, while Ossi is a little more curious and always interested in what’s going on. As a family who loves to travel ourselves, we know how important it is to feel comfortable, relaxed and genuinely welcome when away from home. That’s exactly why we created Chalet Oz — a place to slow down, enjoy nature, and experience Switzerland in a more personal way. We live just next door, so we’re happy to share local tips, restaurant ideas or hiking suggestions whenever you need them. At the same time, we fully respect your privacy and are just as happy to let you unwind and enjoy the space at your own pace. We look forward to welcoming you to Vitznau and to Chalet Oz.

Chalet Oz is a modern Swiss chalet in Vitznau, located between the Vierwaldstättersee (Lake Lucerne) and Mt Rigi. The peaceful lakeside village setting offers easy access to hiking trails, lake swimming, boat trips, and public transport connections to Lucerne and the surrounding region. The chalet is ideal for families, couples, and small groups looking for comfortable accommodation near Lake Lucerne. Guests enjoy lake views, a calm atmosphere, and the convenience of nearby shops, cafés, walking paths, and transport links. Inside, Chalet Oz features two bedrooms, a bright living and dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering stays. There is also a balcony with lake views and a private garden with outdoor seating. For added relaxation, guests can optionally book the private wellness area on the property, including a sauna and hot tub, perfect after hiking on Mt Rigi or exploring the lake. A Visitor Card is included, offering local benefits such as discounts on public transport and selected attractions in the Lake Lucerne area. Guests love the peaceful, postcard-perfect setting of Chalet Oz. Nestled between the clear waters of Lake Lucerne and the slopes of Mt Rigi, the neighbourhood feels calm and unspoilt — a genuine retreat from busy tourist centres, yet surprisingly easy to get around from. Within a short walk, you’ll reach the Vitznau boat pier, where regular ferry services glide across the lake to Lucerne, Weggis, and other lakeside villages. The historic Rigi Bahn, one of Europe’s oldest mountain railways, also departs directly from Vitznau and takes you up to panoramic viewpoints, alpine walking trails, and scenic mountain restaurants. The village itself offers a relaxed, local atmosphere with a handful of cafés and restaurants serving Swiss classics such as fondue, rösti, and fresh fish from the lake. Everything is close by, walkable, and easy — ideal for slow mornings and unhurried days. For culture and family-friendly outings, Lucerne is an easy trip by boat or public transport. Highlights include the Swiss Museum of Transport, lakeside promenades, and historic old-town streets.
