It's been a wonderful experience having guests from here at home and around the world! We have fallen in love with the Shag Harbour/South Shore area, having moved here in August of 2024 after long careers and too much work driving! Now we spend our free time touring the area and the rest of Nova Scotia - hiking, dining, whale-watching, town-hopping - so that we can provide our guests with first-hand recommendations and experiences! We truly enjoy meeting and hosting people, especially families...we have five children and three grandchildren. Hope to see you soon!

Built in 1876 by Master Mariner Charles Nickerson, our beautiful century home has been fully-renovated to maintain its Maritime charm. Built in the gothic revival style, it occupies an historic place at the heart of the Shag Harbour community, as it was once housed the Post Office between the house and the ol' barn! Guests fall in love with its charm, cleanliness, and local artwork and details. Your 2nd floor three-room suite offers privacy, ocean views and lovely modern Maritime decor. There is a queen bedroom with walk-in closet, twin bedroom, TV lounge, large bathroom with walk-in shower, and a coffee/tea/beverage station with mini fridge. Plus, we have five acres of conifer woods out back with a hiking trail to our private oceanfront! The views during high/low tide and sunrise are magnificent, with comfy chairs down there so you can relax and take it all in. Every morning, enjoy a two-course breakfast that includes the local legendary Seal Island Breakfast (lobster scrambled eggs) for those inclined, or a more traditional custom brekkie based on guest preferences! So far, our guests agree that Route3BnB is a warm & welcoming place to stop for a night as you cruise the Lighthouse Trail, partake of lobster and holiday festivities, or spend a few summer days visiting our amazing local white sand beaches and lighthouses. And of course, there's seafood.

This friendly, charming community has a strong lobster-fishing legacy and is, in fact, the lobster capital of Canada! The Shag Harbour wharf and lobster fleet are just a quick walk down the road, as is the Chapel Hill Museum & Sea Tower with amazing ocean views! For extraterrestrial enthusiasts, the famed Shag Harbour UFO Crash site and UFO museum (summer) are a short distance away, and residents are eager to chat and share their experiences. We have many white sand beaches to explore! Cape Sable Island is an eight minute drive, with its stuning causeway, white sand beaches, and Nova Scotia's tallest lighthouse at the Hawk Beach, the province's most sourthern point! Lots of beautiful birds, seals, and so much unique flora and fauna are sure to keep wildlife lovers interested! In later fall & winter, we have the wonderful ceremonial lighting of the lobster trap Christmas tree, as well as Dumping Day: the first day of lobster season here in LFA (lobster fishing area) 34. Our local lobsterman also offers our guests exclusive tours of his holding facility! Please join us!
