John & I fell in love with Belize several years ago on a 5-day vacation, aboard our friend's catamaran. Our land adventures were filled with great food, culture and fun! We especially loved the beach and the ocean; swimming, snorkeling and relaxing in hammocks. When the pandemic hit, like many, John and I re-evaluated our lives and retirement plans.  We had recently married and blended our families after a time of great loss for me. So “living in the moment” and chasing our dreams became more important than ever. The ocean has been calling my name since I was a child, spending spring breaks in Sanibel Island, FL and later in Marco Island, FL. John is a scuba diver and loves the laid back beach lifestyle. We decided to sell our home in Austin, TX and look at property in Belize. We researched all the options in Belize. We liked the laid back vibe of Placencia and as an artist, I loved that it was rich with art and culture. We found our new beginning with Bella Sway Belize . . . where bubbly meets bliss.

Placencia is a 16 mile long peninsula off the coast of mainland Belize that feels like an island. Placencia is only half a mile wide with the stunning Caribbean Sea to the east and the Lagoon and Maya Mountains, to the west.  Maya Beach, boasting the most beautiful beaches in Belize is north of the village. This quiet, beach community is quickly becoming a sought after destination in Belize; close to the village, excursions and many popular restaurants, bars and attractions. A vintage bowling alley and sports bar, Jaguar Lanes is just across the street from Bella Sway. The top rated Maya Beach Bistro is a 2 minute walk serving breakfast, lunch and dinner oceanside. Mickey's Bar & Grille at the new Cieba Resort is a 5 minute walk with a saltwater pool with swim-up bar. RumBum, Pelican Pub & Grill at the Green Parrot is are also just walking distance. All of the resorts in Placencia allow Bella Sway guests to use their pools and beaches as long as you are having food and/or drinks. Leo's Car Rental is just across the street and he also rents scooters, golf carts and shuttle services from the international airport.
