Beautiful Artists retreat, arrive by boat and soak up the serenity. Large deck with river views. Our custom designed Finnish sauna offers a unique and holistic experience, the combination of heat, dimmed lights and the smell of cedar or essential oils creates a healing ambience that is both invigorating and comforting. It's a place where time seems to stand still and you can fully immerse yourself in the present moment. The warmth relaxes your muscles, releasing any tension and promoting a sense of calmness. Your mind begins to quiet, allowing you to let go of any worries or distractions. In this serene and tranquil environment, you have the opportunity to connect with yourself and find inner peace. Sauna is available on request with one hours notice. No smoking indoors but vaping is permitted. Service animals are allowed and with prior approval well behaved pets can stay too. Bar Point is an isolated location, there are no shops or road access. If you have health or mobility considerations it may not be suitable. There is a long staircase up to the house. Behind the house is native bushland which extends into hundreds of kilometres of uninhabited National Park, uninhabited by humans that is, you may meet some of the wildlife. Bed linen and towels are provided. We are on the electrical grid and there is an oven, microwave and gas cooktop. We get our water from the sky and ask that you be careful not to use too much. Your car can be left on the 'mainland' at Kangaroo Point public wharf which is about 2 kms before Brooklyn township or Deerubbin Reserve boat ramp. Take the Mooney Mooney/Brooklyn turnoff. We can also pick you up in our boat from the Hawkesbury River Train Station which is a very pleasant hours ride from Central. There is a fee per trip in the boat which can carry up to 4 passengers. If your group is larger it may be more convenient for you to book a ride with the Hawkesbury Water Taxi Service.

Bar Point is a very special place that can only be reached by boat. Although it is only an hour from Australia's largest city you will feel like you are deep in the wilderness. There are not many people here but if you do meet someone on your walks you will find them very friendly and helpful. You can reach Kalighat River House by Water Taxi, the Riverboat Postman or we can arrange to pick you up in our boat.
