Wonderful property off a main road with a huge orange orchard, cute pigs, and adorable chickens (who follow you around!). Loved that there was always a dog or guests roaming around, but it was still extremely quiet and laid back. Klaus, the proprietor, is a fantastic host who loves to chat while he goes about his day. 10/10 experience, can’t wait to come back!!

Haka House Bay of Islands is a welcoming and stylish hostel located just across from the scenic Paihia wharf, offering cosy, practical accommodations with million-dollar views of the stunning... Appreciated the friendly service provided by the staff. Traveling solo, unfamiliar to the area and only a few days to explore, the gentleman at reception had some good recommendations for a bush walk, dinner spot and some exploring on the ferry. Thank you

Under new management from mid 2022 and just 80 metres from Paihia Beach, Peppertree Lodge features a barbecue area with outdoor seating. En-suite washroom was handy and a full kitchen downstairs was nice to prepare breakfasts in the morning. A very friendly staff dog to pet at the reception office and curious cat visitor was fun to relax with outside by the covered deck.

Centabay Lodge offers budget accommodation right in the centre of Paihia. Choose from a bed in one of the spacious dormitory rooms or stay in a private room to suit your budget. Centabay was my favourite hostel that I stayed at in New Zealand!!! I loved the vibrant atmosphere, the lovely backpacker-staff and the wonderful manager who was always a joy to chat with. The prices are incredibly reasonable for a place in the middle of Paihia, and you can tell the manager isn't in it for the profit - she genuinely wants to help travellers have the best experience possible. The hot tub worked well and was always great to use. The hammocks and tropical garden are another bonus. I could go on and on!
