Very nice hostel, very 'old school', with a large living room and a nice garden. The showers and toilets were super clean, the area felt safe. The hostel is 15 minutes walk from the bus terminal, 20 minutes walk from a Woolworth. They also serve chocolate pudding and ice cream in the evening which is super nice.
The premises might look a bit old, but at the end of the day the place is clean, the area is safe and it's really good value for money and that it's what is important. Would recommend to friends!

I have to say that the YHA Nelson is one of the best hostels I've ever seen. And it is reasonable priced too. Staff is amazing. I had a single room and it was great.

It is a very beautiful place hidden behind The trees but still in The middle of city. Dave made me feel like I was popping into a old friend's home.

The hostel is in a great location being pretty much in the centre of town, and the main bus interchange is less than a five minute walk. The staff were excellent and the facilities were generally clean and well-maintained. The common areas were quite big and spacious which was nice as hostels often tend to have somewhat cramped common areas.
A warm welcome and friendly staff at the hostel, which is cheap for Nelson. The kitchen is good and there's some nice outdoor space. Our room was in a second building, which was well-sized and with a shared bathroom/shower, which worked well.

Great location we were in downstairs twin room unit perfect & easy access to main building & kitchen. Beds firm. Great sitting areas inside & out. Very secure promises with coded access through main entrance. Kitchen is huge & brilliant. Cheap Paid street Car parking 120 minutes 8am-5pm so can park free overnight.
